GROUND TRANSPORT. Moscow City has a developed transport infrastructure – there are the three transport rings: the Garden Ring, the Third Transport Ring and the Moscow Ring Auto Road (MKAD). Currently the is under construction Central Ring Road, which will help to relieve the Moscow Auto Ring Road from transit traffic, is planned to build in Moscow Region.
In the city is registered more than 3 million private vehicles, as car ownership exceeded the 339 cars per 1000 inhabitants. With account of transport from other regions it results to the great difficulties of traffic in the city.
At peak hours over the road network of the city at the same time moves more than 200 thousand cars. At present, the length of streets and roads is about 5 thousand km, including the trunk - 1281 km. The number of transport facilities - 317 units (including 68 bridges and 249 viaducts and road junctions).
However, at the current intensity and congestion of traffic , today the city additionally requires about of 350 km of backbone network.
In Moscow also registered about of 250 thousand trucks.
