26 November 2009
Three stations of Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line – Myakinino, Volokolamskaya and Mitino will be opened for public use days before the arrival of New Year. On November 24, 2009 the Head of Moscow metro Dmitry Gaev and the working commission visited these stations. At present, line section between Strogino and Mitino is almost ready: equipment is being installed and station improvement works are under way.
The introduction of this line section will help to solve the problem of passenger transportation in Mitino, which is one of the most densely populated districts of the capital. Besides, it will ease passenger flow in the congested north-western part of Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line.
The new line section will bring the metro system slightly outside Moscow – Myakinino station is located in Moscow region. The station will be integrated into the parking space of Crocus City centre providing visitors with easy access to the trade and exhibition complex. It’s the first time a metro station was entirely funded by a private company.
Traveling from Myakinino to Volokolamskaya station, passengers will pass a bridge over the Moskva river. Volokolamskaya station will feature amazing 8-metres-high vaulted ceilings that make the station look spacious.
Mitino station is located in the centre of the namesake region at the intersection of Mitinskaya and Dubravnaya streets. It’s a single-vaulted station with small caissons on the ceiling that make a trick of the light.
The inauguration of the new stations in Mitino and in Moscow region will make a good New Year present for over 130 thousand people. Next year, Pyatnitskaya station and a new depot will be built in Mitino.
